FUN!

Oct 24, 2011 by Laura and Mia

I was, I have to admit, sceptical when Georgia suggested I bring Mia along to Agility classes. She was not yet one when we started (about 10 months) and we had been struggling a little with obedience classes. I wasn't keen on the pair of us being dunce of the class again!

Well I couldn't have been more thrilled with the outcome of this course, for both Mia and for myself. Mia absolutely LOVED it (she would become visibly excited the moment we turned into the Murdoch campus entrance). It has been a great way to channel her energy whilst still learning and reinforcing what we had already learnt. This course has helped our doggie/owner bond and we have fun every week.

Mia has been a cautious pup right from the beginning, so to see her happily race through a tunnel or over a dog walk has been very rewarding for me. And her recall has improved out of sight thanks in part to this course. Being able to practice and reinforce this is a safe environment with the help of Georgia has been fantastic. I am still a little shocked every time Mia comes racing back to me when I call!

I highly recommend this course (and all of the other ones that we have done- kindy, juvi obedience and basic obedience) to every dog owner.
I have learnt so much about teaching and interacting with my dog from the team at PawPrints- that she has turned out to be such a charming little critter is in a big part thanks to them!!

Awesome instructor

The best thing about the instructor was that she gave info in a simple yet informative manner and positively - making people confident.

I wouldn't change anything, it was a fun class in which I learnt heaps. Some reminders on things I should know and some fun and different ways of doing things.

I love how we were taught basic foundation skills in such a fun way - sometimes I wonder if the people and dogs realised they were learning!

This is the course every good dog owner should do - it shows that communicating with your dog to get him to do as you ask is fun fun fun!!

Thanks from Deakin too. He has a renewed interest in playing and running - it's reinvigorated both of us!

Wouldn't change a thing

Georgia is brilliant. She successfully translates what she knows about dog behaviour, dog training and teaching people into a 100% successful training program that is lots of fun for dogs and people. Everyone can be successful because Georgia understands dogs and their humans so well - quite a skill! Level 1 Agility was fantastic and the perfect foundation for Level 2. Thanks Georgia!

Agility converts!

Oct 10, 2011 by Megan and Tully

Thank you so much for the experience that Agility has given both to me and Tully.

After several courses of general obedience training, I experienced some success but I have found Agility to have been by far the most beneficial for confidence building and bonding.

During other training, Tully sometimes appeared bored and she lacked motivation. She had stopped looking to me for direction and I was frustrated by her lack of enthusiasm. I had to work really hard to get her to respond well.

At first, obstacles that were new caused her some anxiety - she wouldn’t even put her feet on the dog walk and it took a lot of coaxing to get her through the tunnel, even when it was shortened as far as it could be. (In all the other training I had done, the tunnel caused the most grief and she was very reluctant with this piece of equipment.)

What a different dog I now see after 8 weeks of Agility! She starts giving me the ‘hurry up’ when I’m getting ready at home, whining and telling me it’s time for training. Her posture when we get there is relaxed and she just has so much fun! She looks to me all the time to see what to do next and she seems so proud of herself when she succeeds. With your gentle training methods, she can never fail. If she doesn’t succeed at a piece of equipment we just add more value to it and in no time at all she has the confidence to tackle it. The dog walk is a case in point. She runs over it now like she never had a problem with it and I’m sure she’s smiling when she finishes going over a jump or through the tunnel!

Tully has blossomed in the last 8 weeks and I think the fact that we work together as a team has forged a stronger bond between us. She has grown in confidence and as a result, I have become more relaxed. She looks more to me on our daily walks and training and I just feel that we have connected in a way we haven’t done before. I love the new Tully so much - thanks again!

See you when training starts again…
