What To Expect From Puppy Class

Paw Prints Pet Training run their classes with the latest, most up to date dog (and human) friendly training techniques. Food rewards are used to motivate and teach pups behaviours such as sit, drop and to return to their owners. We also use toys and play with other puppies to motivate pups. Owners will be taught how to gain co-operation from their pup without the use of force.

What to expect in class:

Puppy Kindy is primarily a socialisation class so it is mostly off lead. However, owners will be instructed how to keep their pups attention and train under heavy distraction. Pups will be released to play and interact with each other regularly – then asked to come back for more training and play with their owner.

It is a fast moving class and loads of fun! We usually only sit down while doing settling and handling exercises with the pups. We use puppy agility equipment to improve co-ordination and confidence.

We will provide comprehensive written material to support you at home. These handouts cover toilet training, puppy biting, kids and dogs, lead walking etc.

We encourage children to be involved in our classes. However, for children under school age we recommend 2 adults attend the class so one can train the puppy and one can supervise the child.

What to bring to class:

• A hungry puppy (they will eat their evening meal during class)
• Soft food rewards (Chicken Chunkers, Four Legs, lambs fry etc)
• Vaccination certificate (first class only)
• Lead and collar (no choke collars or chain leads please)
• Your pup’s favourite toy
• A sense of adventure and fun
• A list of any questions you may have about your puppy’s development or education
